Its not the scariest game I've ever played, but the oppressive, claustrophobic atmosphere really puts you on edge. It does have moments of pure panic and some seriously unsettling moments in it. But thanks to the great use of light, your limited vision cone and an incredible soundscape this really delivers. It's a fine game, oozing with atmosphere, a bleak and disturbing world and some pretty complex survival mechanics. That's all I needed and I downloaded it on my Switch a few days ago. Then I looked at the reviews, a number of reputable sites giving it 9/10 plus an massive number of positive Steam reviews. Oh and the game is currently in the Steam Halloween sale on PC for only 4 quid! (and its cheap on consoles too).Īs someone who 'enjoys' horror games, I'm amazed this has only just appeared on my radar. Wanting to play some spooky games for Halloween, I was looking at a top horror games list and among of all the usual suspects appeared Darkwood, a title I'd hardly heard of. I remember reading about it years ago as an potentially interesting horror game due to its top-down perspective. What follows doesn't contain spoilers aside from the game's main features and premise. C.There's not much on Rllmuk about Darkwood, so on this fine Halloween allow me to enlighten you and recommend this game.
